The competition brief presented an opportunity for re-thinking Irish school design. Our proposal addresses all of the requirements of the DES Technical Guidance Documents while offering new ways to organise the teaching accommodation to create vibrant and innovative spaces for learning.
Current thinking in school design places great emphasis on providing flexible teaching spaces that are suited to various teaching styles and methods. Our proposal takes the standard classroom unit as the basic building block and organises them into six clusters around a shared common area. This unique arrangement offers great flexibility and can be used in different ways.
