Hill Street — Family Resource Centre

A renovation and extension to an 18th Century chapel in the heart of Dublin City

We were commissioned by Dublin City Council to carry out a Feasibility Study of this family resource centre in Dublin’s north inner city. Our study involved an extensive analysis of the existing building and an archaeological assessment of the site, on which lies the tower and foundations of the former 18th century Old St. George’s Chapel. Following close consultation with the management and building users, our final proposal is for a new, three-storey building which forms a new relationship with the tower. Expanded facilities will now accommodate a pre-school, crèche, counselling hub and offices. We have also made proposals for imagining the existing outdoor spaces to create a more stimulating environment for learning and play.
