Renovation and extension to a Victorian terraced house in Ballsbridge

This renovation of a Victorian terraced house involved making a new connection to an irregularly shaped back garden. The twisting geometry of the new kitchen/dining areas merge the rectangular lines of the house with the diagonal lines of the garden.

Stepped ceiling levels and angled glazed walls create a rich spatial experience of changing light patterns and lush garden views.

“We entertain a lot, and the space was not working. An open-plan kitchen / dining area to accommodate a gang was a priority. We had plans from two other architectural practices but Robert Bourke just spoke our language – he knew what we wanted – a bright, light space. He was up for the challenge!”
