We are thrilled to have been awarded a Special Mention in the the 2016 Architectural Association of Ireland Awards for our Learning Pavilion outdoor classroom and learning landscape. Look out for details of the forthcoming exhibition and publication.
We were recently shortlisted for the design of a new education space for Carlow Educate Together Primary School. The Learning Tower is a series of stacked play and learning spaces that create a strong visual connection to the Sugar Factory Lime Tower. Made entirely from native Irish larch timber, it comprises a series of platforms and rooms, each with it’s own size, character and view to the surrounding landscape. A large, covered space at the base accommodates 30 students. A winding staircase contains two tiered enclosures and leads to a viewing platform at the top. Both metaphorically and visually, a strong connection is made to the world outside and the important history of the site.
