Robert Bourke Architects is an award-winning architectural design practice, based in the city centre of Dublin.
RBA was established by Robert Bourke in 2009, after having worked in design-led practices in Amsterdam, Berlin, London and Dublin.
We are valued for our design ingenuity, knowledge of the construction process and emphasis on good communication with our clients.
Every commission presents a new set of challenges, which we aim to resolve with clarity, sensitivity and professionalism. We firmly believe that good design should be the norm rather than the exception, regardless of scale or budget.
HOW WE WORK
Our holistic design approach begins with an in depth discussion with the client to establish the brief. This is followed by a detailed assessment of the site to determine important aspects such as sunlight, views, or any other existing qualities that can be harnessed and optimised in the new design.
An initial design is proposed and developed into a more detailed proposal, in close consultation with the client. Where required, the design team is expanded to include cost and structural consultants. Planning issues, where applicable, are resolved at the earliest possible stage to ensure the smooth delivery of the project.
We take great care to produce detailed construction drawings and specifications that are issued to a shortlist of contractors for competitive tender.
We take pride in working closely with suppliers and craftspeople during the construction phase to get the most from the selected materials and building techniques and to ensure the highest quality of design and finish.
The design process is very much a collaboration between the architect and client and we are proud of the good working relationships that we establish on each project.
We have won many awards for our work, including the RIAI Best Emerging Practice Award in 2014, First Prize in the National Planning Awards, First Prize for our Outdoor Classroom design and a Commendation in the RIAI Architecture Awards for our Portlands project in the Best House Extension category. This and several of our other projects have been featured in publications such as Architecture Ireland, the Irish Times, the Sunday Times, the Sunday Business Post, Image Interiors magazine and House and Home magazine. Three of our projects have been featured in the Open House Dublin architecture festival, organised by the Irish Architecture Foundation.
We strive to produce designs of the highest quality and work hard to maintain these standards, while delivering projects that are carefully tailored to strict budgets and stringent deadlines. Please feel free to contact us to arrange an initial consultation.
