The approach to renovating this 50 sqm, one-bedroom pre-war apartment was to create a simple, functional layout that takes full advantage of the limited natural light while preserving the original character of the apartment.
The two generously proportioned main rooms are arranged as kitchen/dining and living/sleeping, with a bed that can be folded away during the day. The kitchen and bedroom equipment is contained within two oak-veneered furniture pieces.
The original fixtures, fittings, sanitary ware and oak parquet flooring are retained to preserve the apartment’s original atmosphere and to avoid the wasteful replacement of perfectly useful elements.
A recently commissioned sideboard and coffee table in American walnut, also designed by this office, will complete the furnishing of the apartment.
