House Renovation and Extension
Sallynoggin, Co. Dublin
The challenge was to renovate, reconfigure and enlarge this 1930’s terraced cottage. Our client required a large room for dining, entertaining and her plate painting workshops. This new space also needed to accommodate her large collection of books, curios and furniture.
Our key move was to relocate the entrance to the side of the house. One enters a new lobby which links the new and old volumes before being released into the taller kitchen and dining room spaces on either side.
The dining room addition is constructed from traditional clay bricks and lime mortar while the side addition merges with the painted render of the original cottage. Oiled cedar windows and external doors unite the spaces with the sunlight and gardens.
