Hill Street Family Resource Center

Renovation, Extension and Playground

Hill Street, Dublin 1

Feasibility Study

Since 2015, we have been working with the Hill Street Family Resource Centre in the north inner city of Dublin. Our initial work comprised the surveying of the existing building to examine ways to improve the layout and arrangement of spaces for their various uses. Activities include parenting classes, children’s activity groups, art, music, English classes, counselling, wellness and workshops. We also made proposals for re-imagining the existing outdoor spaces to create a more stimulating environment for learning and play.

We are currently exploring ways to extend the centre to provide accommodation for a pre-school, crèche, counselling hub and offices.

Tyrrelstown Park

Playground Design and Community Workshops

Tyrrelstown, Dublin

We are collaborating with Fingal County Council Operations Department on the design of two new playgrounds for Tyrrelstown Park in west Dublin.

The first phase comprises a series of workshops with children from two local primary schools: Tyrrelstown Educate Together and St. Luke’s National School. During these regular field trips, presentations and discussions, the students are being taught how to observe their physical environment, record their observations and discuss their ideas for the new playgrounds.

The feedback and ideas presented by the children will form the basis of the design of the new playgrounds, which are scheduled to be built in 2014.
